- A NOTE FROM KEITH COWGILL
- -------------------------
-
- Regardless of all else, I am honored when you choose to use
- software I have written. Whether a Creative Bits product is
- a major application or tiny utility, I strive to make that
- product as elegant, thoughtful, and easy-to-use as I can,
- using the language most appropriate for that product.
-
- I am also a firm believer in the shareware distribution
- method. I don't cripple or hamper software I market through
- this method, other than a modest shareware reminder appearing
- at the start or end of certain unregistered applications.
- When you purchase shareware software from me, you pay a fair
- price for the value you receive, which does not include
- marketing costs, major overhead costs, distribution materials
- cost, or an attempt to make up for revenues lost through
- unauthorized users.
-
- Therefore, you can get full use of this package today. And
- nothing will physically prevent you from continuing to use it
- long after your evaluation period has ended. But if you do
- not register this package you (1) may cause me and
- programmers like me to abandon the shareware distribution
- method; (2) miss out on upgrades, bug-fixes, product
- announcements, and technical support; and (3) ultimately
- cause the price of software to artificially increase.
-
- Increase? Yes. Shareware authors have a tremendous impact
- on the software market by forcing commercial developers to
- remain competitive with our pricing structure. Our ability
- to bring a product to the market quickly and inexpensively
- forces commercial development companies to reckon with us in
- ways that are beneficial to you.
-
- So, whether the Creative Bits application you select is a
- full-featured system or so small that the fair price I've
- attached to it is little more than a tip you would offer on a
- good meal, your registration of that product IS important,
- both to you and to the computer-using community at large.
-
- Thank you for listening to my point of view. But above all,
- thank you for evaluating and using this Creative Bits
- product.
-
-
- Sincerely,
- Keith Cowgill
